US Troops in Afghanistan

First Afghan girl ever known to own a baseball glove and ball in her area..She is at Camp Harriman in the Orgun district of Afghanistan in 2002.

About every month, the GOP strategists release a 'new phrase' to their flock of Hawks, to make sure they will all sound alike, who are scattered throughout the USA. And are informed that this lingo is to be preached, especially by the conservatives that have National Media exposure, starting on the exact same day and are directed to: Repeat until Replaced, Repeat until Replaced, Repeat until Replaced.. Things like: Drill baby Drill, Repeal and Replace and You create jobs by giving a tax breaks to the Rich... It appears that the Replacement Motto for the Month of September is: 'Why won't the Democrats give George Bush credit for the (military) surge in Iraq'. Republicans hoping to claim that he had made one good decision in the conflict and are saying that this is a fact. Desperately trying to expose that the Bush/Cheney teams 'surge' was a correct maneuver after the Administration's many botched strategies and the poor military evaluations on the ground, frequently under the direction of Donald Rumsfeld, about this point in the war. How pitiful is this..? And John McCain, you know him the "Maverick" or is he. Who said he was a maverick a few years ago. Would go against his own conservative party and became more moderate on issues of new legislation in the Senate. Then decided to go against his own maverick proposals on new bills. And recently has claimed that he never said that He was a maverick, which he frequently announced he was during his campaign for his failed Presidential bid in the 2008 election. Now, Proclaims Victory in Iraq because of the surge..and also stated that Bush had a Victorious war in Afghanistan..?

What would a Victory in Iraq be ? That was the question that was asked of Bush and his party members. They had generally gave answers that it would be difficult to describe and complicated to define. Yet, most of them, collectively agreed that a victory would be considered a safe and secured country under total control of Iraqi's law enforcement Agencies. But just a week ago or so, there was a reported bomb that went off in the City of Baghdad killing approximately 50 people. And who knows the other violence happening through out the country which is rarely reported, especially without our troops being directly involved. So the goal of relative security in Iraq has not yet been reached.

One of the other Republican measure to be obtained to be considered a Victory, was a functioning Democracy. But the present leaders in Iraq just this week have stated that they realize that they do NOT have a Democracy at this time, yet are hopeful of having this system of government operating in the future. Another requirement to be fulfilled to be a GOP Victory that has not been met, yet again. How can John McCain be celebrating a Bush Victory in Iraq when W's own standards for success has not been satisfied ? Maybe John's flip flopping on issues and the continually changing of his maverick status is becoming confused. Or Maybe, Mr. McCain can say that, the achieving of the previous goals stated, was never considered to be a reason, to be declared a Victory in the Iraq engagement. It only had to be George W's support and implementations of the military surge to be deemed victorious and successful war...

After ours troops began to battle they quickly realize that many different religious sects were fighting each other. VP Joe Biden, then a Senator, proposed a plan to separate Iraq into 3 different states, provinces or individual countries to help reduce the violence in the country of Iraq, which Mr McCain said was a cockamamie idea. This geographical division has been executed in the former Yugoslavia and seems to have accomplished relatively peaceful outcome. But........What John McCain had said on a TV talk show aired on Tuesday, August 31st has to be the cock-a-doodle-do of all Cockamamie statements when he stated that:'Bush had also won the war in Afghanistan'. What? If this was told to a bunch of lifelong lunatics, dwelling in the mind set of Looney land, the wackiness in this remark would push them to the furthest edge around the boundaries of their insanity state of being and would be forced to become brand new residents in City of Reality-ville for the rest of their lives. A town of mind where John needs to visit more often and hopefully reside there himself someday if he wants to be at a level of a competent US Senator.

The Bush/Cheney Oil men team mostly ignored the importance of war in Afghanistan where the Taliban and al-Qaeda, who were the real terrorists and actually physically present. The groups directly responsible for the 911 attack on New York City. Warnings that there was a emanate treat from Iraq to the United Sates and neighboring countries because of the massive weaponry that they were producing and stockpiling, which ended up that they didn't really have. Also, the completely fabricated story of Iraq purchasing yellow cake from Nigeria, a chemical necessary to develop a Nuclear Bomb. Of course, this would be consider a Weapon of Mass Destruction. But, Saddam Hussein had even said himself that he had no intentions of attacking any other country because he was satisfied with the wealth that he had and there was nothing he needed to gain from it. Saddam's statement is considered to be believable because his country was virtually bankrupted after a 7 year long war with Iran. So our troops were sent to fight the the War on Terror in the Wrong country based on whole bunch of lies. These Deplorable actions started to change the view of America, by the world, from a Great country with high moral standards to a Nation showing some Dishonorable ones. And still the Republican party is going to continually attempt to justify the starting of this War, that shouldn't have ever been, with the supposed success of a military surge and are demanding that Bush gets credit for it. Yet, there is a different surge that George and Dick should truly get credit for...

Let's get into the real reasons for the war... The Oil Cartel administration had a big problem. The terrorists were in Afghanistan and Pakistan but the Oil was in Iraq which they really wanted access to. They had to put the Bad Guys in the country with the Black gold. There came out a Intelligence report that Hussein had meetings with al-Qaeda at least twice in Iraq, which was true and possibly met with Osama bin Laden. But what was failed to be revealed until after the war had started, that Saddam didn't like them and after his last meeting with the terrorist group, he kicked them out of the country. There were satellite photos of trucks, storage tanks and the like said to be use to store and transport materials to be used for Weapons of Mass Destruction, which of course turned out to be untrue also. This really didn't matter to the War Boys that had enough phony evidence and stimulated enough public support to start a War in the country they needed to be in, Iraq.

Crimes against the Taxpayers of the United States of America... Richard Bruce Cheney, Secretary of the Defense from 1989 to 1993 under the Father Bush administration. In 1992 Brown & Root a Halliburton subsidiary was paid $9 million by the Pentagon under Cheney's direction to produce a classified report. Soon after this report the Pentagon awards Brown & Root a five year contract to provide logistics for the US Army Corp of Engineers. The (GAO) General Accounting Office estimates Brown & Root makes overall $2.2 Billion in Revenue in the Balkans. Billion of Dollars for what..? If you want to check out the Criminal waste of your hard earned money go to: Halliburtonwatch.org then click Cheny/Halliburton Chronology.....

To acquire a high ranking position in a company you might figure that you would have to accumulate years of experience to be considered qualified. If you were to lead a big Corporation you would think you would need a mandatory minimum of a few years of business experience. Nope... In 1995, after leaving the Department of the Defense, Dick Cheney becomes Puppet CEO of Halliburton Co., one of the biggest oil-service companies in the world. With absolutely No business experience, Richard gets the leading executive position at Halliburton because he was considered to be fully Qualified for: Contracts well Awarded...

Suspicious activity... In 1997, Cheney contributes to the creation of a right-wing policy group called the Project for the New American Century. This group advocates the removal of the 'Saddam Hussein's regime' as early as January 1998. And was revealed to be the intelligence center of the drive for the War in Iraq... Remember... The 911 attack was in the year 2001 and the Iraq war started in 2003.

In the year 2000, Cheney resigns as CEO of Halliburton to run as son Bush's vice president. Dick is given a $33.7 Million in company stock as a retirement package. At this point, Halliburton co., a diversified energy services, engineering, construction and maintenance company, has now became the World Largest. After becoming VP in 2001, Mr Cheney, under public pressure, noting a conflict of interest, sells his Halliburton stock holdings for about $30 million...

Halliburton in 1995, pleads guilty to criminal charges of violating a U.S. ban on exports to Libya by selling Col. Quaddafi six pulse neutron generators devices that can be used to detonate nuclear weapons. They pay a $3.8 Million penalty.

" Indonesia Corruption Watch " names (KBR) Kellogg Brown & Root (Halliburton's engineering division) as one the 59 companies using collusive, corrupt and nepotistic practices in business deals involving former president Suharto's family in 1997.

Also in 1997, the GAO, after a audit reported that KBR over-billed the Army for costs associated with its work in Kosovo. The firm was using more workers and equipment than necessary to clean offices and provide electricity and backup power supplies to bases. They were charging our Government $86 for a sheet of Plywood that cost only $14.06... As a result of the critical report, KBR's logistics contract was not renewed. Virtually fired, but it's only temporary...

Now that VP Cheney is set up in the White House in December 2001 'Guess Who's back'. Kellogg Brown & Root secures a 10 year no cost ceiling deal to provide support services to Army, from the Pentagon. The contract is called the Logistics Civil Augmentation Program. A contract that has a "cost-plus-award-fee, indefinite delivery/indefinite quality service. Meaning the federal government has a open-ended mandate and budget (no limit) to send KBR anywhere in the world to run humanitarian services or military operations for profit. In common terms the company can just about do whatever they want, whenever they want, charge for their services whatever they choose and the government is obligated to pay them.

On September 14, 2003: on NBC's Meet the Press, Cheney says, "And since I left Halliburton to become George Bush's vice president. I've severed all my ties with company, gotten rid of all my financial interest. I have no financial interest in Halliburton of any kind and haven't had now, for over three years." But the vice president conveniently forgot to mention that he continues to receive from the company a deferred salary of over $150,000 per year while maintaining 433,333 shares of unexercised stock options.

The Iraq War had started in March 20th 2003. On January 2004, The Army awards Halliburton subsidary KBR a contract worth over $1.2 Billion to rebuild the oil industry in southern Iraq. The Army previously had awarded a no-bid contract to KBR in March 2003 for the purpose of rebuilding Iraq's oil infrastructure in both the north and south of the country. But under charges of cronyism and favoritism leveled at Halliburton. The Army opened the contract for competitive bidding in the Fall of 2003. The Army split the contracts, So Halliburton was only given the southern Iraq contract not both. Northern Iraq contract was given to firms from California and Australia, a deal worth $800 million.

Just this past week US Commander in Afghanistan, General Petraeus was reporting that the Taliban is increasing it's stronghold on the country. The American citizens are starting to become fed up with costs and lost of lives of these wars and the troops are scheduled to exit the Afghan territories in about a year. Leaving with possibly obtaining little sustainable long term success. If the USA at the beginning put all it's resources to fighting the War on Terror in the country with the terrorists groups, including al-Qaeda, and did not attack Iraq. At this time today, you might have had The United States armed forces honestly claiming Mission Accomplished in Afghanistan ?

Credit for the Surge..... Lets give all the credit due to Bush and Cheney for the endless surge of taxpayers money to corupt and crooked Corporations without limits and with very little accountability. Giving full Credit for creating convincing lies to start a war in a country of Iraq that would benefit their favored corporations. Must give George 'credit' for the surge in the National Debt almost doubling it in only 8 years and frequently preaching fiscal responsibility. Absolutely must give Dick and George 'Credit' not holding themselves accountable for their wrongs and always trying to divert from the responsibilities of their actions and many times blaming the Democrats as, 'the real Culprits'..?

Speaker of House of Representatives, Nancy Pelosi was reported to have put in place legislation to stop the the government from awarding no-bid contracts. The Rock head Republicans and Larry Kudlow could argue that this is putting regulations on businesses and could be the end of prosperity as we know it. With all the discrepancies on Wall Street and what we know about Halliburton and it subsidiaries do you think we might need stricter regulations on business ?

Countless Billions of dollars have been stolen from the American taxpayer. If we could ever find out how much money was taken from us citizens, it could make Bernie Madoff look like a kindergarten kid stealing a lollipop from a little girl in a playground...

One of the saddest things, besides the loss of lives of our soldiers is that, from all the billions of dollars of taxpayers money to rebuild Iraq's oil infrastructure we will never receive one penny in return. No revenues that were promised, no discounted oil. We can't even charge Iraq rent for using the pipes and rigs we paid for. We'll end up with absolutely nothing. Matter of fact, Russia and other countries are working out deals to get oil from Iraq through the oil system that was erected and charged to the US taxpayer...

Unfortunately, There seems to be no interest to investigate the corporations that have ripped us off. Neither by Obama Administration or by Congress. But ultimately it could be us at fault. Citizens not raising enough hell to put pressure on our leaders to uncover the Crimes against the taxpayers. Maybe it's to late Maybe it's not...?

Mister Joshua

Bush mismanaged the war in the beginning, but give him credit for placing the right man, Gen. Petraeus, in charge and allowing our troops to get the job done. If the Dems had had it there way we would have cut and run and accomplished nothing for our efforts. At least now we have a somewhat stable ally in the region. Let's not downplay the importance of having a free, democratic Arab ally. And shouldn't we be blaming Congress for most of our fianicial problems since it's there job to make laws and regulate businesses? Liberals always shy away from this because it means critizcizing Democrats that controlled congress from 2006 onward.

H.W. Bush did cut and ran in first war in Iraq... There was suspicions that W. wanted to vindicate his father in the second conflict. Your right..If Iraq becomes free but there having a lot of security problems not widely reported.. No this Congress is not responsible for the federal financial problems Bush and the Boys are to blame. Let's give you a perfect example: Father Bush really got screwed because Ronnie Reagan overspent like no other President before him. When George Sr. said ''read my lips no new taxes, he ended up signing a Bill to raise taxes to cover Reagan's liberal spending legislation that was already in place. But son did worse he super spent and lower taxes which is a moronic fiscal policy. It's going to take some time before this will turn around, possibly 4 years about same amount of time it took H.W.'s budget to level out...

Blaming Bush for what's happened, is a good start. Would be better if he and all the others stood trial for this mess. And please, let's not throw in the Democrat's, what information were they allowed to see that Bush had? Who forced fed the Congress, information that only Bush accepted as truth?

As far as the Dems "cut and running", why didn't Bush and company reinstate the draft if they were so gung ho on fighting terrorist...instead of his "stop lose", personal pulling four and five tours.

As far as the financial problems, don't forget that the Republicans were in charge and rubber stamps whatever Bush wanted. Bailing WS out, and watch as they turn around and give millions away in "golden parachutes". Granted the Dems should be doing more, if the GOP was stonewalling. Or is this their way of throwing mud come November.

We got suckered by Cheney into believing him, that Iraq had a hand in 9/11. It didn't. He lied, like the traitor he is. Bush is at fault for Al Queda's presence there now. He invaded, caused a power vacuum, and Al Queda came in like hungry rats. This has more or less permanently destabilized Iraq.

If FDR, in response to Hitler's declaration of war against the United States, had invaded Mexico or Argentina because they had positive relations with the little corporal, what would the Republicans be saying now?

Let's go the full Monty on this; let's say that America got bogged down for 7 years in that unfortunate (yet, mythical) war in Mexico or Argentina, what would the Republicans say then?

We all know the answer to that question. FDR would have (would have, HELL, he already is) been called a complete and utter failure of monumental proportions; especially since he would have taken us to a completely illegitimate and unnecessary war when the real enemy were the Nazis and the Japanese Empire. (As a matter of fact, Andy Rooney of 60 Minutes once admitted on that show that he believed that the war with Germany was an unnecessary and unwarranted distraction until he visited one of the concentration camps, which changed his opinion.)

This is why I never supported this war. As a veteran, I can tell you, without reservation, that General Sinunu was absolutely correct for stating that we needed a minimum of 500,000 pairs of boots on the ground to wage that war effectively. For this, the patriotic general was fired by a fake patriot.

And I agree, it is the taxpayers fault for not raising enough hell to pressure our leaders to do right by us. Crimes have been committed against the taxpayers and we continue to let them get away with those crimes.

Now that we know who's to blame, what are we going to do about it?

The National media has to pickup on it and Report it...  I have e-mailed  this Article to the Huffington Post and the Nation magazine but who knows if they ever read them. or even care because it's not a Hot topic right now with November election coming up... The problem with the big News organizations is that they need popular issues that are well viewed to satisfy their Advertisers. I'm sure it's very competitive... There is tons of information out there that the taxpayers money has been ripped in past and possibly in the present. The Republicans will say that this of the past and forget about it. And of course they would,  this could put more damage to their much shaken Moral Majority status. But it's not just about the GOP or the Democrats.. Why can't " we the people " find how much the Federal Government has been scammed out of our hard earned money... The conservatives are always talking about wasteful spending, well here are cases  that could be billion of dollars of unaccounted for funds...  There would have to be a National Poll like Gallop etc. to find out the popularity of an investigation, which is highly unlikely. Or you, 'Powerisknowledge'or someone else starts a movement.. You have to start somewhere possibly in newsvine.. Anyway Thanks for your comment.....

PowerisKnowlege... I work many hours per week and wouldn't have the time... I would really like to write more articles than I do, but can't. I have no experience organizing a group movement. There is Tea Party and a Coffee Party. The new party could be called the Espresso Party. Getting all junked up on Cappuccino and talking about politics. This is a very honorable cause to persue and has been avoided for years.. First.. you would have to ask friends and co-workers or whoever about this idea to find out if it would have initial support I am mostly surrounded by dead head Republicans. In the 60's and 70's there was a man named Ralph Nader, when he spoke everybody listened even the politicians. He became famous for reporting that the Chevy corvair was a dangerous automobile and was eventually taken out of production. He was considered the original consumer advocate. He also did extensive studies about government waste and corruption. In the 1980's when Ronald Reagan administration was in office they virtually pushed him out of the national scene and said that he wasn't not important anymore. He ran for President on the Green Party ticket. This man is super intelligent and has the a memory of a encyclopedia. When Mr. Nadar was set in DC he had a office and a staff that was very excessable. Try to get a hold of Nader or his staff if has one anymore or get in touch with Green Party which is very possible and these people live for this political and corporate corruption stuff... They could let you know what you would be up against... Good Luck.....
