Looking back at the not so Supreme Court ruling of the Gore vs. Bush elections of 2000. This court actually stopped the recount of ballots in Florida 3 days before the grace period that was allowed by State law.. What...? Now, not going into details of the decision, if you look into the actual public record you can easily come to a conclusion, why this had happened. William Rehnquist had expressed interest in retiring under a Republican administration. Sandra Day O'Connor become upset when the media initially announced that Gore had won Florida. Her husband explaining that that would have to wait 4 years before retiring to Arizona. Not So honorable justices.

I believe that the Supreme Court members are appointed for life, so they could make decisions without the threat of losing their jobs or of being influenced by politics. This system is not working, not only is it broken, it's cracked in Two. Searching the Constitution and summarizing what it says: When cases come up, the Supreme Court shall have appellate Jurisdiction, both in Law and Fact. It did not say political persuasion . It goes on to say: With Such Exceptions, and under such Regulations as the Congress shall make. They should also hold their Offices in good Behavior. I know that people will have, liberal, conservative or a mixture of both, for a moderate view. But making a decision on constitutional law, federal or state, to come to a wanted political outcome is Bad behavior.

Now..the recent decision about corporations, profit or non-profit, that can supply unlimited funding to political interests, is not that clear. If you look at the First Amendment, it says, the Government shall not restrict Free Speech. it doesn't say people, corporations or whatever. But this still is a horrible decision.

After many were trying for years to restrict lobbyist strong influence on legislation for their own selfish profitable interest. This decision makes a pond into a Ocean. It gives Big money a very LOUD Freedom of Speech and everyone else a whisper. The Supreme court decisions are final. The members can be impeached, which happened only once, the number of members can be increased, but there is now real system to overturn their decisions. Congress cannot even restrict what cases can be heard.

This has to change... In the Gore vs. Bush election they no good reason, law or not , to stop the recount. Absolutely None. There has to be some kind of Board, let's say constitutional scholars, to preview a case to see if it can be decided based on Constitutional Law. This board also has the power to force the court to resubmit an argument based on law and overall public interest.

Like the last ruling, that the Freedom of Speech is unfairly and unequally distributed to rich over the poor. The justices have become gods, we need to bring them back down to earth. American taxpayers pay their checks and their decisions need to be more balanced.
