Not to be President (american or not)

In the 2000 Presidential primary McCain and Bush became the remaining candidates that had a chance to win the nomination. Pat Robertson of the Religious Right was believed to have convinced the Right to Life followers not to vote for McCain. John had complained that he voted in the Senate for 20 years straight down the line for the Right to Life agenda, In South Carolina, the Bush people were running ads on TV that Mr. McCain had abandoned the Vietnam Veterans which he was a member of. This turned out to be untrue but lead to his defeat in SC and put him to far behind Bush to get the Republican nod.

But... The major polls had shown that John McCain head to head with Bush or Gore in a general election would win. Also.. In a three way race, McCain, Bush and Gore he would also win if he ran as a independent. This is where he blew his Real chance to be President. He later unconvincingly endorsed George Bush for President hoping for Republican support in a future election which he got in 2008.

Now.. In the 2008 Presidential general election, realizing that Bush supporters were going to lose their elections. He tried to convince the public that he was a maverick, saying that he was independent of the Bush policies. But, he voted over 90% of the time for George's legislation and the voters didn't buy it. He did pick Sarah Palin as a vice presidential running mate, who was a real maverick, going against her own party when she was Governor of Alaska. This gave him a boost in the polls but quickly fizzled out.

Now,, On another subject, I honor John McCain as a real war hero. It must have taken a lot of courage to survive being a prisoner of war. But a statement , he made , last year just gets to me. "Why can't the American car companies be more like Toyota." Opps. When Ronald Reagan was in office and the Air Traffic controllers union was on strike he fired them. This began the anti-union trend and continues until this day. The GOP were complaining they were making to much money and killing American business. Just like they say that raising the minimum wage will put the Fast Food restaurants out of business. Did you know that Mr. Reagan was also the President of the Actors Guide union.

Middle class workers with a Union get to have a good wage, good medical insurance and a good retirement. Who the hell would want that ? Conservatives believe that all the revenues from their companies should go to the executives and the rich because they take all the risks, work hard and create all jobs. They should try working in a plant and worrying about paying their bills every week.

So..Here it is, Every time a American car company or State or anything else goes short of money , the GOP and others publicly blame the Unions. It's not because of a bad economy or poor decisions by corporate executives or politicians it's always the unions fault. Would they like everyone to work for minimum wage because that's all they deserve.? I believe they would.

It's just another big GOP lie and I hope it falls just like the Republicans are the party of fiscal conservatives. If you Listen to the very Rich man Larry Kudlow he'll tell you we got stop paying all this money to unions but he will never need any money if lived to a thousand years old.

Military pilot McCain will sure remember the sayings of the soldiers of his time in war: America Love it or Leave it. I say, American car companies, Love them or leave them alone.' American car Companies, with their unions, lead this country to become the Greatest economy in the World. To this day we are still number...1... with a over a 14 trillion dollar GDP. No. 2 Japan has approximately a 5 trillion dollar GDP.. that's almost triple.

I'm not saying that foreign companies should not compete on our open market. Competition is good for quality and lower prices. But..United State Senators and Representatives need to stop trashing American companies unless their doing something wrong. Getting a decent employment package is not wrong. Maybe Congress gets too good of a pay package ? Wouldn't it be great to vote yourself a raise.

I hope that this Toyota disaster will get people buying American cars again and realize that are better than the Japanese and always have been. I am not a member of a union, I do not work for any car company or am I affiliated with any car manufacturer in any way. Just a patriotic citizen that believes in American products.
